The New Normal

As we move into summer, lockdown restrictions are starting to be lifted and social distancing relaxed. We can now meet in small groups outside and finally catch up with family and friends, many of whom we haven't spoken to face-to-face in weeks. It has been sad, but unavoidable, that so many people have had to cancel their planned events - especially with such lovely weather recently. After a winter of torrential rain and high winds it seems such a waste of a sunny weekend not to have a party!

We have a long way to go yet but I suspect that even when the restrictions are fully lifted (whenever that is!) it is going to take a very long time for us all to get back to visiting friends houses once again, or being in large gatherings. This will prove particularly tricky for any caterer who, like us, is used to travelling around the area cooking at private houses and venues. I have been thinking long and hard about how we can continue to work in the current and future situation. I suspect that even as restrictions are lifted and we are allowed to mix more freely, the underlying worry about being in contact with other people will not go away and it will be more important than ever for us to reassure you, our customers, that we are taking every precaution to keep your food safe.

In the future we will be offering an adapted menu that can prepared here in my 5 star EHO registered kitchen and then supplied in two ways:

Delivered ready prepped meals: for special occasions - or just because it's Tuesday! Starters, main course and puddings delivered to your door in disposable oven ready containers with full instructions on how to finish of your meal.

Individual picnic boxes: for cold buffets, finger food or sandwich lunches. I have sourced some really lovely Kraft paper food boxes in various sizes and can make up the picnic boxes here and deliver them to the function. Delivered with bamboo cutlery and paper napkins so that at the end of the day the entire package can be put in the bin with no need to wash up. The food packaging is all commercially compostable, if that is a service that is available in the area, but otherwise will biodegrade safely over time in general waste.

I have updated the sample menus to give an idea of the options available but please do get in touch if this is something your are interested in as all menus can be adapted to personal preference or dietary requirements.

We are all so sad that we have missed so many of your special events over recent months, but we are looking forward to celebrating with you again in the future. See you soon!
